Oki, Dadánast’áda, Âba Wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Parents and Caregivers,
Reminder that there is no school on Monday, May 19; Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 20.
We hope you had a restful and enjoyable long weekend with your families! As we welcome students back to school, we're excited for a fresh week of learning, growth, and discovery. Let's encourage our learners to start the week with a positive mindset and a willingness to try their best in all they do. During the month of May, PFS staff and students are focusing on the value of Aksistoiypaittapiisinni, which is the value of doing things independently. Every effort counts and together we can help them shine!
As the earth awakens with the warmth of spring, we are reminded of the Blackfoot teachings that honor the sacred balance between all living things. Spring is Isskitsikamm – the season of renewal, when the land, like our spirits, is reborn. The rivers flow strong with the stories of our ancestors, and the prairie grasses rise with the promise of new beginnings.
In the Blackfoot way, this is a time to give thanks to Náápi, the Old Man, for the lessons of winter and the strength we carry forward. It is a time to walk with intention, to listen to the wisdom of the land, and to care for one another as relatives – not just among humans, but with the animals, the plants, the winds, and the stars.
Let this season inspire growth not only in the land, but in our hearts – to live in respect, humility, and harmony with the natural world, and to honor the stories and teachings that root us in who we are.
Hand to Heart,
Crystal Good Rider and Shauna Penner
Principal & Assistant Principal
