Friendly Reminder: Jammy Jamboree – December 12

This is a warm reminder that our Jammy Jamboree is coming up on December 12 from 11:00–12:00 pm! Families are invited to join us for caroling, seasonal celebrations, and a joyful gathering to mark the Winter Solstice. Everyone is encouraged to wear their coziest pajamas to make the event extra fun. Teachers and students have also been busy creating artwork to help decorate the gym for this special celebration. We look forward to celebrating together in a warm, relaxed, and festive atmosphere. We hope to see you there!

Picture Retake Day is Coming Up!

We would like to remind families that picture retakes will take place on Monday, December 8th. If your child was absent on the original photo day or you would like their photo retaken, please ensure they are prepared for retakes that morning. If you received a photo proof package and are requesting a retake, please send the package back with your child on Monday. We look forward to seeing everyone’s bright smiles!

Grade 6 Speed Skating Field Trips

We are excited to share that our Grade 6 students will be taking part in a series of off-site learning experiences at the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary, where they will have the opportunity to learn how to speed skate in a world-class facility. These visits will take place on multiple dates from December through March, beginning on December 10, 2025, and continuing on select Wednesdays in January, February, and March 2026.

On each field trip, students will travel by school bus, leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 12:30 p.m. in time for lunch. Throughout the series, students will engage in a rich variety of learning experiences, including:

• Speed skating lessons and exploration of the Oval
• Physical education and wellness sessions focusing on nutrition, sleep, hydration, and emotional regulation
• Indigenous Ways of Knowing with an Elder through stories, games, and holistic teachings
• Math and science connections through skating activities such as timing laps and understanding movement
• Journaling and goal setting to reflect on personal growth

We are thrilled to offer this unique learning opportunity that blends physical activity, cultural learning, and academic exploration.

Finding Calm and Renewal in a Busy Season

As we move through this busy season, we encourage our families to look ahead to the upcoming break with gentleness and hope. This time of year brings excitement, but it can also stir worry, stress, and emotional weight—for children and adults alike. Please remember to be kind to yourselves, to pause and breathe, and to find joy in the small moments of light each day offers. Elder teachings remind us that in Blackfoot tradition, the winter season is a time for quiet renewal—an invitation to slow down, reflect, and care for our spirits. We hope this teaching brings comfort and grounding in the weeks ahead, reminding us that even in the busyness, there is always room for rest, gratitude, and the warmth of community.

If you are picking up your child, instead of him/her going on the bus, you must let us know by 2:00 pm Monday-Thursday & 11:00 am Friday. PFS is NOT able to make last minute changes to bus boards.
