Blackfoot Value of the Month: Atsiimoyihkaan - I can persevere and try hard

Oki, Dadánastáda, Âba Wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Families,

Looking Ahead to the End of the School Year

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of another school year. As summer approaches, our school community is feeling the excitement of warmer days, special events, celebrations, and opportunities to come together before we say goodbye for the break.

In Blackfoot teachings, this time of year reminds us of renewal, growth, and gratitude. Just as the land becomes full of life in the summer months, our students have grown in many ways throughout the year—through learning, friendships, challenges, and new experiences. We are grateful for the hard work of our students, staff, and families, and we look forward to enjoying the final few two of activities and celebrations together.

IPP Signature Pages – Thank You for Your Support

Teachers will be sending home a copy of Individual Program Plan (IPP) for students this week, including a signature page. If your child has an IPP, you will receive a copy in a sealed envelope. Please review the document, sign and return only the signature page to the school as soon as possible (the rest of the IPP is yours to keep). IPP Signature pages are a legal document required by Alberta Education and we appreciate your assistance in meeting deadlines and aligning with provincial expectations.

If you have any questions about your child’s IPP or would like to discuss their goals and strategies in more detail, please reach out to your child’s teacher—we value your input and partnership in supporting your child’s learning.

Parent Advisory Council Invitation

You are warmly invited to attend our upcoming Parent Advisory Council meeting on Thursday, June 18, at 12:00 PM.

This will be an opportunity to meet and connect with our Admin team, as well as spend time with other families. We welcome your ideas, perspectives, and participation as we continue working together to support our school community.

Lunch will be provided, so please let us know if you plan to attend. Please RSVP by June 16 by contacting the school office.

PFS Sports Day – Friday, June 19

Piitoayis Family School students will participate in Sports Day on Friday, June 19, from 9:30–11:00 AM. Students will rotate through a variety of fun outdoor activity stations, including playground play, bocce ball, sprinkler games, sponge relays, basketball, lacrosse, bubbles, chalk, face painting, traditional games, and a refreshing treat station.

Please ensure your child comes dressed for active outdoor play and the weather. Students may want to bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and clothing that can get wet, as some stations will include water activities.

We look forward to a fun morning of movement, teamwork, laughter, and community!
