Oki, Tansi, Umba-wathtich, Danita ada, Aanii, Hello PFS Families and Caregivers,

Important Information

The reconstruction of the front entrance sandstone is complete—our main entrance opens again on the morning of Monday, December 9. Bus drop-off and pick-up will return to the front of the school on 9 Avenue. Please remember not to park in the bus zone as this blocks busses from dropping off and picking up students—there is both side street parking and the community lot at the back of the school. Parents picking up and dropping off students can continue to meet by the gym doors.

Ms. Sharon is away, Ms. Leanne is filling in for her in the front office. Please be patient while she gains access to school portals and learns the PFS school processes. She may not be familiar with PFS ways of doing things as she is new to CBE. She recently came from Westjet Airlines and handled many of the bag and parcel calls that came in to the company.

Upcoming Events

December 13, Commun-I-Tea, 8:30-9:30am

Please join us before the Winter Solstice Concert for some coffee/tea and light refreshments. Elder Clarence Wolfleg (Miiksika’am) and Elder Jackie Bromley (Iminii’akii) will be on-site to visit with families to share their wisdom and beautiful presence. This is also a great time to network with other parents and families.

December 13, Winter Solstice Concert, 9:30-11:00am

Please join us for an amazing show put on by the PFS students and teachers. Our theme for the Winter Concert this year is Northern Lights which is referred to as our ancestors are dancing ‘apaskiee kaahsinooniks in Blackfoot! Students and staff are working hard to practice for the show, and we hope you will be able to come to PFS to cheer them on!

If you are planning to take your children home after the performance, please remember to sign them out at the PFS office so we know they have been safely dismissed. Please go to the main office and we will call the teacher to send your children down to the main office to leave with you. Christmas Hampers can also be picked up by families/caregivers from the PFS Learning Commons after the concert—PFS staff will be on hand to distribute the hampers.

December 16, Christmas Jammy Jamboree

Families are invited to join us in the gym from 10:45-11:15 for a Christmas sing-a-long. Everyone is invited to wear pajamas for this fun experience. The sing-a-long will be followed by a turkey dinner lunch provided by Great Events Catering. Please RSVP to Ms. Shauna if you plan to come as the number of meals available is limited.

December 17, Old Man Napi Visit

Elves from the RBC Dawn Adams Project will be here to assist Old Man Napi (Santa Claus) as he hands out Christmas gifts to all students. Thank-you cards for Old Man Napi and the volunteers who purchased, wrapped, and delivered the gifts would be appreciated—it's nice for them to be recognized for the difference their contributions make in our students’ lives!

December 19, Winter Solstice Ceremony

Students will have an opportunity to participate in a Winter Solstice Ceremony and blessing with Elder Saa’kokoto (Randy Bottle) on the afternoon of December 19th. PFS will gather as a whole school to learn from Elder Saa’kokoto, participate in a blessing, and enjoy berry soup and bannock together. A reminder of ceremony protocol: please wear long sleeved shirts and ensure legs are covered (long pants, skirts, ribbon skirts, ribbon shirts, and moccasins are encouraged).
