Blackfoot Value of the Month: Aatsimmoiyihkanni (Spirituality/Ceremony)
Oki, Dadánast’áda, Âba Wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Parents and Caregivers
As we move into the second week of school, we want to thank you for the patience, care, and support you have shown during this busy start-up period. The beginning of the year always brings a few adjustments, and we are working diligently to ensure that our systems and routines create a welcoming, safe, caring, and respectful environment for all students, families, teachers, and staff.
Our first days together have been filled with smiles, new friendships, and wonderful learning moments. Students are beginning to settle into routines, and classrooms are already alive with curiosity, creativity, and growth.
This week, we would like to share a traditional Blackfoot teaching about the Circle of Life. In Blackfoot culture, the circle represents balance, respect, and connection. It reminds us that people, animals, plants, and the land are all interconnected—and that the choices we make ripple outward to affect others. As we move through the year, we encourage our students to practice kindness, respect, and responsibility, knowing that these actions help build a strong and caring community.
Thank you for walking alongside us in this journey of learning. We look forward to the weeks ahead, filled with growth, connection, and shared celebration.
We look forward to seeing you at our annual Meet the Teacher Pancake Breakfast on Friday, September 12 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Our honored guest, Elder Jackie Bromley will share some words of wisdom and lead us in a blessing. A special thank-you to the Batter Boys from the Calgary Stampede for cooking breakfast for us, and to Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids for sponsoring the event.
Hand to Heart,
Crystal Good Rider and Shauna Penner
Principal & Assistant Principal
