Blackfoot Value of the Month: Kimmapiiypitsinni (I can show kindness)

Oki, Dadánast’áda, Âba Wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Parents and Caregivers,

Parent–Teacher Conferences: Thank You!

Thank you to all families who joined us for Parent–Teacher Conferences. We truly appreciate your partnership and the time you took to connect with teachers, celebrate your child’s growth, and plan for continued success. Strong school–home relationships make a meaningful difference in your child’s learning.

Jammy Jamboree – A Cozy Winter Celebration

We warmly invite you to our Jammy Jamboree on December 12th from 11:00–12:00 pm. Families are welcome to join us for caroling, seasonal celebrations, and a joyful gathering to mark the Winter Solstice. Students, staff, and parents are encouraged to wear their coziest pajamas to add to the fun! Teachers will also be helping students create artwork to decorate the gym for this special event. We hope to see you there as we celebrate together in a warm, relaxed, and festive atmosphere.

IPP Signature Pages – Thank You for Your Support

Teachers are currently collecting Individual Program Plan (IPP) signature pages. If your child has an IPP, you may receive a copy in a sealed envelope labeled “Confidential.” Please review the document, sign the highlighted signature page, and return it to the school at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions about your child’s IPP or would like to discuss their goals and strategies in more detail, please reach out to your child’s teacher—we value your input and partnership in supporting your child’s learning.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for working with us to ensure accurate documentation and strong communication between home and school.

A Blackfoot Teaching: Kimmapiiypitsinni – “I Can Show Kindness”

As we move into the winter season—a time for connection, warmth, and reflection—we share a traditional Blackfoot teaching connected to Kimmapiiypitsinni, the value of showing kindness.

One commonly shared Blackfoot story tells of Napi traveling across the land during a harsh winter. Along his journey, he met many animals struggling in the cold. Each time, Napi offered a small act of kindness: helping a rabbit find shelter, brushing snow off the back of a bison, and sharing a spark of fire with a shivering bird. Though the acts were small, the animals survived because of them. Later, when Napi himself grew tired and cold, the animals he had helped returned to offer him warmth, food, and protection.

This story reminds us of a teaching held deeply in Blackfoot culture: Kindness given freely comes back to us in ways we may not expect.

In our school community, we honour Kimmapiiypitsinni through our daily actions—helping one another, speaking gently, sharing, and remembering that even small acts can make a big difference.

Hand to Heart,
Crystal Good Rider-Fox and Shauna Penner Principal & Assistant Principal
