Blackfoot Value of the Month: Aksistoiypaittapiisinni (I can take on tasks independently)

Oki, Dadánast’áda, Âba Wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello Parents and Caregivers,

Parent–Teacher Conferences

We look forward to connecting with you during Parent–Teacher Conferences this week on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Conferences are 15 minutes each and can be booked through MyCBE Account.

These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for you to see your child’s learning space, view samples of their work, and talk with their teacher about their progress. Please remember that Friday morning is a non-instructional day, and there is no school for students at that time.

We value these conversations and appreciate the time you take to partner with us in your child’s learning.

Jammy Jamboree- A Cozy Winter Celebration

We are excited to share that our Jammy Jamboree is quickly approaching on December 12th! This special event invites students and families to come together in community for a time of carolling and celebrating the winter season. Students, parents, and staff are encouraged to wear their coziest pyjamas as part of the fun! This gathering is a wonderful way to mark the Winter Solstice and celebrate the season in a relaxed, festive atmosphere. Please note that there will be no Winter Solstice concert held this year. Instead, the Jammy Jamboree will serve as our Winter Finale, bringing our community together for a time of warmth, music, and connection. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Reading Student Interventions

PFS is beginning targeted reading intervention groups for students who require additional support starting December 1.

  • Grade 1 is taking part in our Early Literacy Initiative, which includes small-group instruction for Tier 3 students.
  • Grades 2–6 teachers are identifying priority students for intervention based on classroom assessments and reading data. Grade 2 & 3 will be the first group to start. More detailed information for Grade 4-6 will be announced as plans are confirmed.

Teachers will connect with families directly if their child is part of these groups. Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance Tidbit

We want to highlight how important regular attendance is for your child’s growth—academically, socially, and emotionally. Each day at school provides opportunities to build skills, strengthen relationships, and grow confidence.

In the spirit of Blackfoot teachings, we are reminded that a child flourishes through collective care. Just as a buffalo calf learns by staying close to the herd, our children learn best when they remain connected to their school community—present, supported, and surrounded by people who care about them.

Your efforts to bring your child to school each day make a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping them build strong roots that support their learning journey.

A Note of Appreciation & Encouragement

As we move into the season of shorter days and busier schedules, we want to extend our gratitude to you. This time of year can be demanding for families—early darkness, full routines, and the many responsibilities that come with raising children.

Please know that your partnership, communication, and support bring light to our school community. We see the care you put into helping your child arrive ready to learn, and we appreciate the way you walk alongside us in this work.

In Blackfoot teachings, Aksistoiypaittapiisinni reminds us of the importance of balance and harmony. Even during full seasons, balance encourages us to pause, breathe, and trust that our community supports one another.

Thank you for all you do. We are grateful to walk this learning journey together. Hand to Heart,

Crystal Good Rider-Fox and Shauna Penner Principal & Assistant Principal
