Oki PFS Caregivers and Families
The last few weeks have been busy at the school, with special visitors like the Little Red Reading Bus, Spirit North, Elder Clarence Wolfleg, and several special guests in online learning Science sessions. Students went on field trips to Arts Commons, Camp Chief Hector, Granary Road, ROARR at Rivercross Ranch, and the nearby wildlands. We had an awards assembly where several students were recognized for their commitment to aksistoiypaittapiisinni (independence). We also had some fun Spirit days, such as Pajama Day and Dress as a Book Character Day. Grade 3 and 4 students participated in a Tobacco Ceremony with Elder Clarence Wolfleg and representatives from Discovery House, in which our tobacco seeds and gardens were blessed—kids enjoyed berry soup and bannock to celebrate this wonderful occasion. We still have many more fun learning opportunities and experiences coming up before the end of the school year, such as a trip to the Calgary Zoo, ‘It’s a Crime Not to Read’ Wind-Up Party, Sports Day, Kindergarten Graduation Celebration, a Moving Camp Ceremony for our graduating Grade 6 students, and so many more.
Please remind your children to be mindful about keeping track of their belongings at school. Since we share outdoor space and our playground with Colonel Walker School, it becomes difficult to determine who items may belong to, so labelling your children’s items is also very helpful. Below is an image of items that were collected in just one day.
