Oki PFS Families and Caregivers

The sun is shining, the butterflies are fluttering around, and the last seeds of the dandelions are scattering on the wind--we are well into the month of June, Ito’tsisamssootaa! The long rains (soota) are upon us and Mother Earth, Na’a, is preparing for the transition from Spring to Summer on Thursday this week during Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year and the first day of Niipo (summer)! Please find a time to watch this video, prepared by the CBE Indigenous Education Team in 2023 to prepare for Summer Solstice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxgi63Mda2I

If you have not registered for Transportation services for the 2024-25 SY on your MyCBE account, please reach out to Ms. Sharon for assistance. If your child is not registered for bussing it could take up to 6 weeks for a bus stop to be established in Sept 2024.

PFS continues celebrating Indigenous History Month with Indigenous Awareness Week and National Indigenous People’s Day on Friday, June 21! Families are welcome to join us for a BBQ at 11:00am on Friday, June 21st to celebrate National Indigenous People’s Day—up to 4 people per family.

As PFS nears the end of the school year for 2023-2024, I want to remind you that the last day of classes for students is Thursday, June 27 and it will be an early dismissal day—students will be dismissed at 12:00pm. Please arrange to meet your children at their bus stop at the same time as you usually meet them for early dismissal Fridays.

Hand to Heart,

Crystal Good Rider & Shauna Penner
Principal & Assistant Principal
