Oki PFS Families,

The sun is shining, the weather is warm, it feels like spring has finally arrived! With the ushering of nice weather, another season arrives...field trip season! Please remember to check your child’s backpack for important notices about upcoming field trips and to send them back as soon as possible. Please ensure to add a current contact number on all forms, in case of emergency. We are unable to accept verbal consent for field trips and off-site activities.

Another important piece of information that we are asking your assistance in gathering are the Status Numbers of our Status First Nations students. Piitoayis Family School is in the process of submitting a group application to Jordan's Principle, which is a request to meet the collective need for unmet services, products, or supports for a group of children from the same organization. We hope to secure funding for an on-site school-based mental health professional and a school-based Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). When adults become familiar and safe people in the eyes of children, they have greater success in working with children. Many students would benefit from the ability to build relationships with an on-site counsellor and/or SLP who would be available to offer access to counselling and speech and language supports during the school day.

You can assist us by sharing the status numbers of your child or children. We need to gather this information from each family to make this a reality for our school. Please visit our Google Form to share this information with us.

Hand to Heart,

Crystal Good Rider & Shauna Penner
Principal & Assistant Principal
