Oki PFS Parents and Caregivers
While the days are feeling longer as the sun stays out until bedtime, the days also feel like they are going faster as the end of the school year approaches. Teachers and staff are still hard at work planning fun and engaging opportunities and experiences for students—field trips, special guests, spirit days, and so much more. Keep an eye out for consent forms and teacher messages about upcoming events.
A reminder that Piitoayis Family School (PFS) and Niitsitapi Learning Centre (NLC) are working on a group application to Jordan's Principle, which is a request to meet the collective need for unmet services, products, or supports for a group of children from the same organization. The goal is to secure funding for an on-site school-based mental health professional and a school-based Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) that will be shared between PFS and NLC. When adults become familiar and safe people in the eyes of children, they have greater success in working with children. Many students would benefit from the ability to build relationships with an on-site counsellor and/or SLP who would be available to offer access to counselling and speech and language supports during the school day.
Both schools are asking parents/caregivers to assist us by sharing the status numbers of their children. We need to gather this information from each family to make this a reality for our school. We will also be sending home paper forms with a QR code to gather this information: https://forms.gle/hahz1zuRtVBRtCuN8
